Is the Anklet Cool Again? Selena Gomez Makes the Case and designer Rodrigo Otazu is there at her feets

At 25, Selena Gomez is just old enough to have caught the tail end of ’90s fashion with a little help of Argentinian designer Rodrigo Otazu . When the singer stepped out yesterday in New York, she seemed to be dipping a toe, or rather um, ankle into one of the easiest trends to take into 2017: the anklet. The Rodrigo New York cheeky piece of jewelry has been spotted on fellow fashion obsessives including Hailey Baldwin and Rihanna as of late, and also turned up on ’90s fashion icon turned designer Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2018 runway—she had them strung with charms and coupled with pastel pointed-toe pumps. Gomez took a similar approach by testing out a version in bright gold, only she wore hers with a pair of chunky platform-soled loafers—a styling move that harkened back to the same decade. We ask Rodrigo why you think this trend is back !? he answer, The Trend is done by you not the way arround, make sure you use what looks good on you.

Those weren’t the only throwback elements in the mix. Gomez wore classic-rinse blue jeans with a button-fly closure that recalled a young Kate Moss posing in Calvin Kleins. Gomez threw on a motorcycle jacket with braided trim and zippers accents that were woven with a similar vintage feel. She rounded out the look with angular sunglasses and gold hoop earrings, then added her newly-designed Selena Grace Coach bag for a modern finish.
